$2,245.62 a second: ExxonMobil scores enormous profit on record gas prices last quarter (Chevron earned $1,462.11 per second)
ExxonMobil and Chevron both reported record massive profits thanks to record gasoline prices last quarter. Exxon's profit was $17.6 billion, nearly double the first quarter and up 273% from a year ago. Chevron earned $11.4 billion, up 74% from the first quarter and 247% from a year ago. That's respectively $2,245.62 and $1,462.11 profit every second of every day. Are excessive gas profits a problem? Should anything be done about it?

Do currency rates directly contribute to the widening gap in countries economy and development? For instance the reason a country's currency is low is due to less gold reserves.
