We need to focus on solutions. Right now environmentalist's solutions are essentially "sacrifice more or the world is doomed". That's a losing message. First, we have got to stop the doomerism. It does nothing helpful and is not based in the current reality. Second, we need to focus on how to reduce emissions without asking people to sacrifice so much. That involves government research and development to make cheap and widely available alternatives for oil, natural gas, coal, etc. Private people don't have the ability to make the kind of massive changes we need in the timeline we need. It doesn't look like other countries are going to do it, but America could if the government put our money to it.
