Is friendship with the opposite sex worth it?
I have to admit upon dissolving a long marriage I am very torn about whether I want to get involved with the opposite sex again. There really is a fundamental difference of perspective between genders that is not exaggerated. But it is precisely this difference that makes friendship worthwhile. No, I really don't need someone else - I'm probably even better off without someone - but it's so much more rewarding to have people in my life I've chosen especially when we mutually magnify each other. I guess that's the point, don't invite emotional vampires into your life that drain your joy. Instead, surround yourself with people who build you up, and who in turn let you build them up. Find joy in each other's successes. (edited)

To play devils advocate, the difference in perspective between the sexes can come in many forms, and does not require absoluteness of the confines of friendship, partnership, virtual, book, white paper, etc. The goal behind what one wants to achieve is ultimately what drives the desire to seek another perspective outside of one’s own. Is the goal to better understand the opposite sex, is it to have exposure to a variety of outside inputs, or something else? I highlight the nuance to shed light on conceptually understanding different perspectives may not be what is driving the topic, though rather a desire for expanding one’s capacity for deeper connection with a partner. Or maybe I misread your text and got that whole analysis askew. 🤔
