Content Creation - A pro or con in a potential partner?

Is being a content creator a positive or negative thing when sifting through the dating pool? Backstory: A while back I noticed my daughter (10 years old) only watches Minecraft videos on YouTube. She absolutely adores these YouTubers, looking at them as super humans. I decided, you know what, I could do that, and one day I'll put a video on the TV and she will recognize the voice. Then the YouYuber will even give her a shout out! Well... I did it, and it was epic. Now we play together, doing father/daughter Minecraft lives, let's plays, etc. I found a massive love and joy for making content. It also helped me get through my divorce by giving me a positive outlet and a way to keep the relationship with my daughter healthy and growing. Conclusion: With all that said, is this a bad thing when looking for a potential partner? It honestly feels a bit dumb that I make Minefraft content, but I love it and so does my daughter. I don't mention it on my profile, because it is just a hobby. (Ironically, I'm actually making money from it now as well, and I make sure my daughter gets her due cut 🤣) What do you think? (Also hats off to anyone that made it through this book 😅😅, and hit me up, I'm single!! 🤣🤣🤣)

I was fully prepared to see something weird, but there’s just a loving father doing cute stuff. And making money yay 😏 I’d say it’s neither positive or negative. We all need to have hobbies and as long as those hobbies don’t become our whole personality I see no reason why not. Minecraft is ageless as far as I can tell :D So, try to connect with like-minded people, the ones who also enjoy gaming, or maybe spending time with their children, so they’ll understand you either way. Good luck out there 🌟 👻

Your response made me chuckle, and I also appreciate the kind encouragement! (Also the making money part adds up to a grand total of about $100, not much but my daughter was crazy happy to get her half 😅😅)

One or the best days -- She came home and said "Daddy, my friends didn't believe that you were (youtube handle), and so I made a bet with them. If I could prove it, then they would all subscribe. Well, now you have 11 new subscribers" She apparently hopped on youtube in computer class, took a screen shot of my face from one of the lives and sent it out to her classmates. Kid is clever 🤣🤣🤣 She was glowing with pride lol

P.s. thank you for saying that. I guess at 30 I can not help but feel nervous and weird about it, but you are right. Nothing is weird when it comes to making your kids smile, just like when she used to paint my nails 🤣

The clean and true answer is no, there is nothing wrong with content creation… BUT The dirtier and also true answer is that professional content creators have a MASSIVE tendency for burnout, depression, image anxiety, isolation, and their financial situation is always at risk of going belly up. That doesn’t apply to those who do it as a hobby, but a lot of people will attach either the “potential headcase” stigma to you, or the ‘man-child’ one. If you want the “cynical” advice. “Frame games” are your salvation. Introduce it was an activity and hobby you do with your daughter. Lead by indicating where your energy is at. Then when they’re curious, explain its content creation. Aka, if you worry that will be seen as a hatchet, give them the honey first. (Also if you want to be extra lamp shady, sneak in sentences that subtly make it clear you are not forcing your daughter to do this, if you feel the need to get ahead of that)

I get that for sure sure and agree. Ive always been a bit prone to burnout and depression as much ADHD leads me down some incredibly deep rabbit holes lol. It is difficult to keep that in check for sure.

Do whatever makes you happy. The right person will love/accept you for who you are. If you're happy with what you're doing then continue, you only have 1 life so live it to the fullest!

I feel like it shouldn't be a negative at all! It shows you have a creative side and honestly it's great, granted I'm a bit biased as I've been a content creator for a long while but still. Id say good for you!
