What makes a game bad or boring?

The combination of all aspects. My favorite game of all time was Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and it was not only because of phenomenal, action pact storyline, but also because of unique multiplayer game mode it had. So a story and gameplay tie together a great game. Another great example is Assassin's creed: Black flag, unique story (that sets itself apart from the rest of the series), unique gameplay and an added factor of nostalgia.

For me it about balance I hate game with little to no story and game with lot of story and very little game play i play a lot of strategy   and jrp out of 600 game I find 540 boring

Customization and character flexibility is a must, and hidden mechanics and a game that doesn't necessarily hold your hand and you learn as you play with a good storyline and choices that impact your outcomes. Hopefully what hogwarts legacy turns out to be (hype)

I like sandbox games where you can be creative, solve problems in different ways, focus in things you like the most and preferably be able to avoid the parts you don't like. Also, I prefer to play games where the characters have personality and it affects the gameplay

A boring game is where you talk to characters with no personality, collect items for them, and complete hundred of similar quests

Good story. And what makes a game bad is mechanics, bad graphics can take me out of it. I mean if it's graphics lag behind everything else, or animations are super janky. It can look like a ps1 game for all I care as long as animation is smooth.
