Diablo and arpg veterans, help me out here

I've been needing a different type of game to bite into and can't stop thinking about Diablo 4 as a choice. Thing is, it's quite expensive for a blind purchase. Is Diablo immortal a good test to see if I'd enjoy it gameplay at all? If not, what other similar games would you suggest? The closest I've played is dragon age origins and divinity2 I think, both some of my favorite games but more for the rpg/story side. Which I don't think is a focus on Diablo games but I might be wrong
