Thoughts on Machiavelli: The True Meaning Behind “The End Justifies the Means” ⚔️✨

Niccolò Machiavelli is often presented as promoting cruelty and manipulation. To me, when he said “the end justifies the means,” he wasn’t encouraging evil acts — he was emphasizing endurance, wisdom, and sacrifice for a greater good. 🌅 Machiavelli’s idea is that sometimes difficult or unpopular actions are necessary to secure long-term stability and prosperity. It’s not about harming others for personal gain, but about enduring present hardship to build a stronger, more just future. 💪🌿 A clear example is that he also warned about the dangers of military power. While force may sometimes be necessary, Machiavelli believed it should be feared — because once violence is used, it corrupts easily and should never become a repeated solution. ⚠️🕊️ What do you think?

You have a point, I can give you that. Probably , you have read Machiavellis' *Il Principe* ? In other words, all you speak is valid, but I can not agree with you - that "its not about harming other for personal gain, but about enduring present hardship to build a stronger, more just future" - so I would ask you "just for whom" ? So the approach is from the eyes' of a governor, to keep authority and secure the state, which seems okay , right?!?, to a certain extent of course. I could give another examples of Cesare Borgia and Orsini family and the plot to remove Cesare from power. What I mean, he proposes throughout his book, that certain "small evil" deeds could bring good results or said in another way - good things to be achieved by doing evil actions. If you wonder, read about Cesares' experience with Orsini family. So, Niccolos' "virtu" as he called it, could be justified if it is to keep authority and state secure. Cheers, mate

I don’t know anything about his ideas. But the way you presented this, it definitely doesn’t seem harmful.

Kids don't drive

When I was younger, I tried to drive a car. The car was broken, and some adults were pushing it to a safe place. There were only two of them, and then they asked me, “Do you know how to drive?” Of course I lied and said, “Of course I do.” In my mind, I thought, It’s a broken car — what could go... read more

The truth behind what you call Thanksgiving 🦃
