The truth behind what you call Thanksgiving š¦
Most of us were taught that Thanksgiving started with a peaceful dinner between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag. That story is incomplete and hides the truth. By the time that 1621 meal happened, Native communities had already been devastated by European disease. The āpeaceā was a survival allianceānot friendship. And what followed was not peace. Within decades: Treaties were broken Land was stolen Entire Native villages were burned Men, women, and children were killed Survivors were sold into slavery Events like the Pequot War and King Philipās War wiped out entire tribes. By modern definition, this was genocide. The friendly āThanksgivingā story was later created to make colonization look peaceful and to erase the truth of what really happened. Today, many Native people observe a National Day of Mourningānot celebration. We can enjoy family and food, but we should also know the truth. History doesnāt change because it makes us uncomfortableābut we grow when we face it.

Yeah, thanks! Good post! This is what I want. To learn something new. Iāve always wondered what actually happened, because the Pillgrams were religious fanatics who were so extreme, that they left England or rather fled because even for their time, they had started to be seen as a threat by the monarchy. You know what was happening in 1621? The 30 years war, where Catholic and Protestants were slaughtering each other all across Europe. They were too extreame during all that. So Iām not surprised one bit. This is the longest ongoing genocide in history. Some countries absolutely can face their past, but most absolutely donāt. Truth is a weapon to the feeble minded, and with aggression they respond. It is the only language they understand. What other uncomfortable truths do you know?
