Coffee?!
Who enjoys or needs that bitter cup of Joe to get through the day? It supposedly has been around for centuries, but has only had direct evidence of use and cultivation since the 15th century. It originated on the Ethiopian plateau and didn't make it to Europe until somewhere in the 16th century due to trade in the Mediterranean! Bonus: It was used by Yemen monastaries to aid in focusing on their studies, and it was this same benefit that helped it spread in Europe. Catholic priests originally did not believe in it, but when they saw its magic it quickly spread throughout the monasteries in Europe.
