Meeting a fiend on the street: what do you do?

Let's say it's 2am and you're going home from work. You walk through the street, and as it happens no one else is around. We can't have a horror setting without the solitude lol. You look across the street and there's something standing in the shadow, looking back at you. You can recognise the silhouette - it's the monster you always thought imaginary. Maybe it's the rake, maybe the shy guy, maybe it's that unkillable abberant from silent hill, whatever you thought of first when reading this. What do you do next?

Give them an eye patch. A fiend is just a friend without an arrr.

At first when I read this I thought you typed "friend." Then I got to the end and had to reread it. Of course the first thing I thought of was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Here's my plan. Find a stick, maybe there is a car parked on the street, an older model with an antenna. I will quickly find sometihing I can use as a stick. Strip down to my underwear (maybe Mr. Stay Puft will be discouraged by this and flee) and place my clothes in a pile on the sidewalk. Hopefully there will be some small trees or shrubs that I can break a few limbs from (also would solve the stick problem.) Next, I light my clothes on fire and make the fire as big and hot as possible. Nearly naked, this actually feels good against the chill of 2 AM! If he comes near me I poke him with the stick and roast his ass over my flaming laundry, scolding him for not bringing the graham crackers and chocolate!

Well, I'll probably die, but eh. Ask it out on a date. If you're gonna kill me, at least let me have a good time before!

See if it's a cute metal chic out at night being a creep like me๐Ÿคฃ Now here's a true story...... There's a stretch of road approximately 1/2 mile long around the corner, one side is wooded with NOOO light, the other side only has light from industrial buildings. When I do my laps at night I only walk on the dark side as (during the summer) there's always fog emanating from the thick meadow/bog. It just looks so cool, when the light from a passing car hits whomever is walking there, it makes them appear as a phantom or ghoul. One night I'm walking & a chic was walking in the side with light, she doesn't even see my outline. When we're just about parallel with eachother, I start stomping my boots๐Ÿคฃ She SCREAMS like a banshee & runs up the road while I sit there laughing. BUT.... She gets to the top of the road by an abandoned building where junkies hang out, I see her take a shortcut across then hear another scream which becomes muffled like someone put their hand over her mouth then some loud noises. I RAN up the road to make sure she wasn't being killed, there's a ton of banging around in this building, more muffled screams. Since I didn't have a flashlight or gun on me, ran home to call 911 & told them some junkies grabbed the chic, I'm not going in just to get ambushed. That's their job. I walk back up to wait for the cops, they drive by once with the search light, don't bother going in to check if anyone is in there. Over the next couple days the smell of death starts coming from the building so I call the cops again, say I called the other night about an abduction & the responding unit didn't actually investigate. Still nothing. A few days go by, crime scene tape is up around the property. Nothing is in the paper but obviously something happened in there.

Find the closest thing to a weapon first. You don't want to run quite yet, because you'll exhaust yourself before you actually have to fight for your life if they catch up.

I'd obviously befriend it and train it to harass single mothers in the future.

I suppose hugs wouldn't help the situation, maybe my greatest fear is my fear because I just don't love it enough.

I've initially misread "fiend" as "friend", so I'm randomly meeting a stalker, that overly attached fangirl from manga&anime convention that wanted me to join her activity club back in school days and I kinda felt bad denying, but it was clear she was shipping us and was uncomfortably younger at the time, besides overall being oddly repulsive to me personally. Granted, in our mid 20s the age gap of 2.5 years is more than fine and at the glance, she grew up to be pretty attractive... now she's giving me a look that makes me wonder whether she planned ahead to make her presence known to me in this setting, or if it was an impulsive decision, but it was clearly deliberate. I can't tell if she's trying not to burst into maniacal laughter, holding back tears or just nervous. Are we the only ones present in the area? Still walking towards her but taking half a step sideways, arcing my path in preparation to walk around her... I glance around and put my hands into my winter jacket, hoping to feel a swiss army knife, or the lil pepper spray can that I like to have around for comfort due to the fear of meeting a wild boar or wolf, but I happen to have empty pockets and visibly shrug as goosebumps run through my neck. "Good evening" - I say in the direction of the figure before I pass her. She doesn't respond, I keep walking, pass her without looking at her face... she doesn't say anything, but after being passed, her coat rattles, as if from a rapid movement, like twitching. Was it wise to turn my back against her? Is she crying? I look back and see she's turned to face my direction. I speed up my walking tempo and hear something move in the bushes just behind me. right next to the sidewalk, so I jump up and immediately proceed to running away... How predictably, foolishly and even plain stupidly. Now I'm sprinting away spooked and have triggered a large dog's chasing instinct. Of course, my running is no match for a fit german shepherd, so the dog catches up in a second, but gladly, doesn't bite me and I can walk away. Why didn't she say anything, even to call her dog? Was she crying before and didn't want me to recognize that in her voice? Why would she care what I'd think in that moment? It could have been just a random terrified girl walking her dog at night, but I'm almost sure it was her. We used to live in the same district for few years. I didn't expect to see her in another city, almost 10 years later... Is she just visiting? Perhaps I should have talked to her... no, I did say good evening! She had the opportunity to respond if she wanted to, more would have been creepy. What if she wasn't her? She probably wasn't, so it's best to not overthink it.
