Back when encyclopedic knowledge of film wasn't at your fingertips, the shelves of a video store offered you the only chance to experience movies that you had never heard of before. And would never appear on regular television stations.

Good Lord, this triggers some memories. The shelf looks like it's from the mid '80s, even the early '80s. It's also really strange that I don't recognize more titles. It's almost like they bought all the cheap titles, because at the time, video cassettes were like $70 or $80. This also would have been a mom and pop video store, given the variations in the box sizes. In the early '80s, movies by Warner Brothers, for example, were released in their own case which was quite a bit larger than the cassette, and opened like a book with a cassette inside. And here's another topic I know too much about.
