What appeals to me about horror is how stimulating it is, inducing strong reactions, and the way that it can be used as a means of discussing topics that are sensitive. The Babadook is a good example of a film that does this: it's ultimately a metaphor for grief that's conveyed through horror, because it... Makes a lot of sense. Things that we experience like grief, heartbreak and loss are terrifying when they consume us. It discusses these sorts of things in a way that makes us not have our jaws hit the floor with fright, but make us really think. That's what I love about horror. 🙂

I love horror, most horror movies don't really scare me (real life disaster situations do though) I like the way horror movies are made, the tropes in them, and the creative writing that comes with a unique and successful horror film. Same with scifi

I absolutely love the idea of being scared. In the moment I will want to hurt myself for even thinking I like horror. But as soon as I'm not scared I wanna do it again. It's like a hit of adrenaline that you want back.

genuine fear is an incredibly palpable emotion, and it's not often felt in the monotony of day-to-day life. It's so exciting to be able to harness that emotion and experience it in a controlled environment like a movie or a video game

They have more of an impact. And keep you glued to the screen waiting for that next chilling moment. Suspenseful horrors are great as they keep you thinking “wtf is going on here?” 
If it makes you a little weary of the dark when the movie is over, it’s done it’s job. Love it!! 😁

I think horror lovers enjoy horror to experience stimulation. Exposure to terrifying acts, or even the anticipation of those acts, can stimulate us — both mentally and physically which is pretty cool. We are clearly in a safe environment but get enveloped into an alternate universe that is scary and terrifying.

When they are made well I love the chills down my spine. The adrenaline/suspense and how it ends. When they are not made well making ideas on how it could be improved or made better or sometimes I just enjoy how bad it is cause it makes me laugh.

I like seeing the directors creativity and how they go about creating the horror itself. My favorite horror film is The Thing (the one by John Carpenter not the new lame version) because he uses mostly practical effects. The puppets he creates for the aliens is amazing and just the Town of Salem type of vibe really builds up the mystery and it’s a must watch. Even the ending is amazing because there’s a key detail that if you notice, changes everything

i personally see it as a game, like a challenge for the film to spook you. If it failed, I get a laugh out of it. If it does, I can relive the horror of having to stare at the window or mirror constantly, so that ghosts have no time sneaking in.

in some cases, the film manages to weave in other elements like multiple character arcs in IT, or mysteries in Shutter, you get hooked into something else too.
