If money is not an issie i would go.for a house. Plant some of my own food. If you can't sell your house, you still can sell land. With an apartment you do not own any land if it is destroyed by earthquake or something. But i would not buy a house just to live in, the hiuse must be for investment too (rent some rooms out).
