When I drink some alcohol and get tipsy enough, I experience an almost miraculous feeling of great freedom, authenticity and total flowiness in social situations (with a small number of people) . So I use alcohol as a magic potion to experience that freedom when I'm with someone. Drinking alone is meaningless to me, obviously. But I have had no one to drink with for a long time.
