I will TRY to make this a short story... Recently there was a Harry Potter marathon in the cinema in my city (yes in 2024), it was a package deal, eight movies in two days, four each day. Morning to night. Me being a big potterhead, and naturally as an introvert: I had no irl friends who liked HP to go with, so I went alone, however I reserved a seat next to someone else who I noticed also was alone since most seats were booked in doubles. I thought this could be a chance to make a new friend. Long story short: I somehow by pure dumb luck clicked and connected with this stranger who sat next to me, and we talked a bit, but somehow without giving names. For me it was firstly because I stutter a little, and secondly because of social anxiety with introductions ever since I was a kid. Its one or my biggest fears. That and phone calls. Anyway... We (me and her) managed to talk about the films vs the books, a little about our video game preferences, and we even had other stuff in common. Everything was going so well... I felt so validated and normal for once. ...That is, until the last movie, during a scary scene: I saw that she seemed uncomfortable and I decided to ask her if she wanted to hold hands. This was very unusual for me to even think I managed to whisper this out loud, but she held my hand and I felt like I was being human and a nice person. It even gave me butterflies in my stomach since I hadn't held hands with someone since my last (and first) relationship. So I assumed after the final movie, we were going to talk about the marathon we finally finished, maybe exchange names and some contact info to keep in touch, right? But after the movie ended, directly after, she stood up quickly and said "goodbye" and left before I could even say anything 🙃 I was so shocked and confused that part of wanted to run after her and say "WAIT!" but my introverted nature won. Maybe its for the best in a way... I think I must have really scared her somehow, or maybe she wasn't even single since that never came up, and me, this weird broken social soul, just decides to hold a complete stranger's hand. I thought I was doing a kind gesture and being human 🥲 I just constantly think about her now and how I must have spooked her for no reason at all... Was I brave or stupid? I'm so hurt and awkward haha. I feel like hiding forever 🐢 #HarryPotter #sweden #introverts
