For a really long time. When we would argue about why she cheated, or continued to cheat on me, she would always say "I don't know". It drove me to a really dark place. There were times where I genuinely tried to let go of this life. I thought that I wasn't enough. That she cheated because I wasn't good enough for her, and if I wasn't. I figured I wouldn't be able to make anyone happy. As we were breaking up, she said to me "it's because you never seemed to care about me". I was trying so hard for someone who took everything I did for them for granted. I know there's more to a relationship then being the breadwinner. But it was like paying for her bills and her father's medical bills meant nothing to her. I took her on expensive trips, to theme parks and arcades. I brought her on weekly dates and bought her flowers when I could scrape together the cash. The night I left, I realized a lot. She cheated because I stayed. There were no consequences for her actions, she was getting away with it, even if it destroyed me at the same time. I realized that even if she wasn't lying and really loved me, that it wasn't enough. Because if she loved me like I loved her, she wouldn't have cheated in the first place. Leaving her was like killing myself. I had to die, in order to live. I had to take the things that meant the most to me, and leave them. But now here I am. Sure. I'm alone. But. I'm okay. I don't think about killing myself anymore. I don't feel worthless anymore.
