Lack of impulse control + different relationship standards from previous eras. Both a man and woman problem - for the men, no fear of being held accountable by their family/community/society and, for the women, inability to properly judge potential partners - again, a consequence of the breakdown of family/community/society relations. Women give men what they want either out of a feeling of obligation or a desire to bond - this goes on until the guy finds someone else, she brings up a desire for a more serious relationship, or she gets pregnant - then the guy leaves her. Of course, there are men who are single parents as well through whatever circumstances, but certainly it's more common for women. Then this creates a burden on the person's parents, adds stress to their own lives, and imposes costs on society since the child will be statistically more likely to commit crimes later in life and develop other mental/behavioral problems. All in all - not an ideal situation. How can it be properly addressed? Well, it would require some serious changes to the current sociopolitical environment to say the least. (edited)
