Financially/economically? Absolutely not. The majority is hurting even after getting their higher paying dream jobs. Whether it's due to finances getting stretched thin or the higher levels of stress and apathy that comes with burnout/overworking in such an economic climate. I don't meet many people who can afford a house on their own (they either get married, have roommates, or are relying on outside help like parents or government assistance... while working multiple jobs). Obviously, there are some but it's not as common as it was 30+ years ago. And the older generations definitely have had easier access to healthcare. Intelligence (whether knowledge or emotional based)? Yes. I feel a lot more people are learning how to regulate their stress and trauma responses due to rising awareness of it. Which makes communication a little easier, as long as all parties involved are functioning on similar levels of awareness. We're definitely still not where we need to be on a society level, but when you look at things on a macro scale, any progress shows promise because it tends to be slow af without a major crisis effecting every person directly. Romantically? Yes. My mom was married at 28 and had me shortly after. But my dad was incredibly toxic and it messed her up pretty bad. She has no love in her life (she married her business partner and has told me she feels nothing for him like that and you can SEE it) and my dad is now remarried to a woman who abused his kids while he just stood by and watched. I'm single at 30, have had bad experiences, but my life isn't tethered to any of them through kids, finances, or marriage licenses. I don't have to rely on a man's money or worry my marriage is the right one due to a government not allowing divorces (just to make sure I'm not wasting my time or indirectly hurting my future kids)

I agree with everything you said here. I want to add that the younger has it better in terms of the sheer amount of things to occupy our times with. As a parent, you have no idea how many times I thought to myself "I really wish they this as a kid."

Both of my parents were basically physically abused as kids (at least by today's standards), because "spare the rod, spoil the child." My maternal grandfather blamed my mother for being a girl. My paternal grandfather believed my father wasn't his biologically (and likely was correct). My paternal grandmother blamed my father for his brother's death while my father was off at college. My father joined the Air Force because he didn't want to get drafted into the Army (Vietnam). He almost certainly cheated on my mother their entire twenty-four year marriage, and my mother believed it was her fault because she wasn't a "good enough wife." My mother has severe mental health issues and can't live independently anymore. My father basically decided to suppress all of his past and remake himself. I would never want to trade lives with either of them. While I'm not happy with my life, I've had it *far* better than they ever did.

I would say it's kinda the same. What I lack now, they had and what I have they lacked. In that respect we're the same. The only thing that changes is the era or times.

I have better life their relationship was volatile and then divorced, so single me with great trust issues is happy not ever being in long term relationships.

I definitely have had a better life than my parents, and I owe it all to them. It’s not without flaws, but it is a really good life they gave me 🥹.
