It's weird how I fundamentally agree with what this is trying to say but something about the wording feels... Meh? I think the hardest thing to judge is when you're overplaying "your part" and if everyone's idea of that is the same. My idea of it would be not investing time into someone when you/your opinion clearly isn't as important as you'd like to think.
