Everything that is discussed and clarified works. With mutual respect and openness to understand, I see no problem.

Yes, I believe that respect for beliefs and empathy are important parts of the relationship and that fits into the issue.

I am an atheist and if that suits my partner then that's fine.

Personally, I have backslidden immensely, as a follower of Christ. I'm afraid of bringing further shame to Him and The Most High. So that's why I don't talk about my faith like I used to. But my wife is a Buddhist (believes some of Christianity, but is primarily Buddhist, honestly). Spiritually, we are unequally yolked. But I still love her and want to be with her. This is my last relationship, anyway. I've been through one marriage already (my ex-wife was abusive and unfaithful), so this is it for me, either way. I don't have it in me anymore, beyond my current relationship. And I'm no paragon of morality and sainthood, so I just give it my best and love her with all I've got. And I hope and pray that we can lead each other back to God/Christ, fully, at some point (if He will have us and restore our union with Him). (edited)

Personally, I am an atheist, I have absolutely nothing against believing people, what I wouldn't want is for someone to try to impose a religion on me...

The person counts, not their religion. As long as the religion is not disturbing or even harmful to the partnership, everything is fine.
