9moDo you believe that the Meyers-Briggs personality types and their supposed compatability with other types are accurate?
Curious :) ie. Infp x enfj, Infj x Enfp, etc. of course, some of us believe meyers-briggs is pseudoscience to begin with (Includng myself) but just for the sake of silly conversation. (edited)

Yes, MBTI is pseudoscience. But requiring all frameworks to adhere to the scientific method is going to limit you big time in how you think about the world and the people in it. Tools don't have to be perfect in order to help you. Using a broken shovel is much better than using your hands to dig with. I think of MBTI as a pair of glasses you can try on in a given situation. Maybe it helps you, maybe it doesn't. But the fact that you are trying to frame things is in itself helping you to get a more nuanced perspective. It may of course also lead you down the wrong path if you get it wrong, but that will always be true. Regarding compatibility, I think of those as guidelines more than rules. Thining in terms of extraversion/introversion, thinking/feeling can help you notice potential dead ends with other people. Not as facts that make you avoid a relationship but as things to pay extra attention to. Sensors and intuitives will have different ways of perceiving the world, which is not necessarily a problem - but it can be.

I was just about to ask about this, lol. I noticed on here and the PDB app that the people I hang out with the most and took the test tend to be low on compatibility ratings. For example, I’m best friends with mostly INTJ, ENTJ, ISFJ, INTP and INFP, and I hardly notice much differences between us other than how we act and stuff. I like to think about it more as it’s how you think and act during certain situations so maybe for example a ENFP could fit that rule better with me as an INFJ while an ESTP can’t since they look at things in an inverse way? I’m not sure, it’s a really good question, but in all honesty how you act on situations doesn’t necessarily make you uncompatible/compatiable with that person. Overall, I find that I work better productively with XNTJ and XSTJ, but for goofing around and silliness, probably XSFJ and XNXP. (edited)

I think there’s some validity, whether it’s a learning experience or something deeper. I used to get INTJ all the time and was in an 8yr relationship with one (another INTJ). It was like a breath of fresh air to be with someone methodical and understood my thought process. Unfortunately like many of us, we weren’t in tune with ourselves and that led to failure. So I can see it as a concept that helps delineate a common ground, but there are too many other factors that will determine the success of the relationship.

Yes they are almost accurate.
