Instead of saying "too busy for ___" I just wish people were more honest and just say they are not interested. Turning down a date one weekend because your "busy" just leaves it open for another invitation at another time. So if you don't want that person to ask again, just say you're not interested in them or that kind of event. People over complicate things by trying to let people down softly. I do a 3 strike rule for just about everything. Once an invitation had been turned down 3 times in a row, I just stop asking that person, because I don't have time to play the chase game. Direct. To the point. No need to sugar coat something I'll be over in 5 minutes, if it even takes that long. (edited)
