Breaking habits and toxic patterns completely isn't easy. Let me offer up some advice from someone that has done a lot of it over the years.

Just a few suggestions of things you can do in your life to help you break your cycles of hurt. 1: Find someone to honestly talk about your problems with. This may be the hardest one but the most rewarding. Take your time with this. 2:Take stock of the things you can change and work on one thing at a time. Any progress is better than none. 3: Remember there will be setbacks. Do not give up with setbacks or failures. Chances are you will have these right before a breakthrough so if you stop then you will miss your growth. 4: Don't be afraid to test your growth. This can be done in a number of ways but should be directed to yourself (if the aforementioned person is present that can help too) 5: If the behavior had a negative impact on other people APOLOGIZE! Most cases you will be forgiven but even if you are not it's usually enough to help lessen the load. 6: Work on introspection. Try to identify what is leading to those patterns and acknowledge what needs to be done to stop them before they start if at all possible. 7: Make peace with your past self. Your past is nothing to be shunned or lamented. You are the you today (Alive and able to change) because of your past self. Make friends with it. Embrace it. Move on. 8: The most important one. Forgive yourself. In many cases you had no control over what started you down that path so you can forgive yourself for walking it in the first place. Just know that from then on you are the one with the power to make a positive change in your life and do your best to not let anyone take that away from you. Do what needs to be done. I believe in everyone's capacity to make positive changes to their lives. I want you to believe in yours as well. 😁
