Has anyone ever been through mental abuse?
I had a co worker who I was friends with and class mates with for a year, but when thier boyfriend told her not to talk to boys, she started treating me lesser. Gaslighting, unhelpful, silent, cold, was even abelist at some point. And it cause me to have a meltdown and to get fired. Anyone know the feeling? Hit me up

It's OK if you see things differently, I'm just struggling to figure out what it really was.

If a coworker changing how they act towards you is going to cause you to have a melt down you might want to consider therapy.

@Christian so they were a friend who you spent time with outside of work and school?

And this was built over several weeks, so it's fair to say it was not healthy

@Christian so this person, who you have no actual ties to, stopped being your friend. And you had a mental breakdown over it and you consider them mentally abusive?

@Will to be honest, I kind of built it up in my head because we talked and had things in common and helped each other, I'm autisic so I am bad at reading people

@Christian I figured as much. You can't put your own issues on other people. Expecting more from someone than they're actually offering because you've misread the situation (autism or no) does not make them abusive.

@Will they were being a bit disrespectful to me though. I didn't know what I did wrong and they just left me suffering alone. I get not everyone needs to explain things. But I'm a very dense person, it would have helped me move on

the only reason I think it's a abuse is due to a lot of reading I have been doing

@Christian you know that's not what "abuse" is though. And you know that's a heavy word with serious implications. Needing help with social situations and legitimate abuse are two different things.

@Will it's hard to figure it out. I'm not very experienced, I know that this person wasn't a bad person, so maybe she wasn't trying to abuse me, thry just communicated in a way I could not understand. I don't want to blame them. I want to understand why they are acting that way. I don't know what I did to them?

@Christian people are allowed to reject you. To not want to be your friend. They're allowed to be mean to you. It's not nice, but it happens.

@Will they were mean to my family for no reason, I don't get why they have to be mean. But to be fair, when I was talking to them, they tried to explain why they were acting the way they were in a calm manner

@Christian I would discuss this with your therapist. And bring up why the word "abuse" would offend people when you use it in this context.

@Will I was telling them they might be being abelist toward me, and they said that no one cares about your autism, I didn't know what tone though
