Rate the Film: 1998 Batman & Mr. Freeze Subzero
Where would you rate Batman & Mr. Freeze Subzero? Feel free to express your thoughts and opinions in the comments. For me:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Subzero was a cross promotional tie-in to 1997’s Batman & Robin film that released about a year later. If you hated Batman & Robin, Subzero is much better. It’s not exactly deep or complex as Mask of the Phantasm as it’s more of a 2 part episode from Batman the Animated Series, but it’s a solid enough film with the characters you know and love if you’ve seen the Animated Series, a good amount of detective work, and still great animation with some exceptions for some scenes using CG. The climax is also a lot of fun and action packed. If there are issues they’re minor. There is a new character, a Dr. Belson, who knew Freeze and is asked by Freeze to help. However there isn’t much development in his character and backstory other than being a greedy doctor. Then there is continuity. Despite this being a cross promotional tie in to Batman & Robin, this was also to be a finale in which finishes up Mr. Freeze’s story arc after the last episode Deep Freeze. Despite doing this though, Mr. Freeze returns in season 4 with new animation known as Red Sky animation. Also yes Subzero is the last film that uses the animation style from seasons 1-3. If your a fan of Batman and seen the animation series, then you’ll like this. If you haven’t and want to see Subzero, A. I highlyrecommend seeing the series & B. If you have no time to see the series the at least watch episodes Heart of Ice and Deep Freeze before seeing Subzero for more context.
