वरना तो नज्मों पर तालियां बजना ही हवाओं में दर्द का फरमान है।

जो मैं शायर होता,
तो तुझे भी शायरी लिखता।
कुछ कह पाता अगर, 
तो तुझे कहानी लिखता।
अगर रोक ही पता, 
तो तुझे मुस्कान लिखता।
जो तुझे जी पाता,
तो जिंदगी लिखता।

तेरा न होना दर्द है।
ये मुस्कान दर्द है, मेरा यहां होना दर्द है।
खुले आसमान के नीचे जीना दर्द है।
ये ठंडी हवाएं दर्द है।
सबसे बातें दर्द है, तेरी यादें दर्द है।

जो मैं शायर होता,
इन्ही महफिलों में, इसी दर्द से, तेरी तस्वीर बना पाता।
हमदर्दों की शोर मे, आसूदगी जी पाता।

पर नहीं हूं ना, "शायर",
तो अपने बिखरे हुए टुकड़ों पर तुझे बिठाऊं क्यों?
जो फूलों की डोली में भेजा है,
अब काटों को गिनाऊं क्यों?
