Does anyone else have a hard time explaining what kind of music they like?

My music taste has no adult supervision. It goes from feral forest witch → Viking war drums → emotionally devastating indie → filthy bass → “why am I suddenly in a musical?” Basically, if it makes me want to dance, cry, burn down the patriarchy, run barefoot through the woods, or flirt with someone I absolutely should not… add it to the playlist. 😏

As for my taste, I've noticed something: it's not about the genre. I like folk, metal, electronic, symphonic pieces. What ties it all together is that I like it when there's "a lot of sound." To be clearer: I like when there's a solid bass rhythm in the background, where backing vocals are singing somewhere in the background, violins are resonating, or whatever else, and everything is topped off with a lively lead voice. When there's "a lot of sound" in music, I have the impression of a juicy sound, the ear and mind are saturated. Those are the kinds of sounds I like.

Honestly, same. My taste is a little hard to explain too. Atmospheric game OSTs, especially Wuthering Waves tracks like Bustling Streets and De Insomniis, somehow sit next to the darker, mythic energy of UNKRA’s Jörmungandr and Excalibur. Then there’s the softer side with songs like favorite, Slow Motion and Play Date, and somewhere in between, Brazilian phonk finds its way in. I don’t think I have a genre. I just have different versions of myself that need different soundtracks.
