Why do women have such bad taste in music?

I am sure there are a small percentage of women who have excellent taste, but the vast majority merely listen and like whatever the trendy crowd is listening to at the time. When I ask them, "What kind of music do you like?" The answer, inevitably, is "oh! I listen to all kinds of music!" This NEVER turns out to be true. They always listen only to the top pop hits of the day. Does it have anything to do with their lack of musical skill? There are tons of boys who play musical instruments, but not many girls. Why do girls seem to lack the passion and interest in music that leads to playing and enjoying it? Open to any input!
