Healthiest Music Taste?

This is not to attack or judge; merely to share an experience and wondering if this is a similar one among other people. But the healthiest, sweetest men I've ever dated were giant metal heads. I'm not entirely sure why that is because preferred music is just that: preference. But I have yet to meet a man that genuinely likes metal who lacks compassion and self awareness. Could be a local thing or it could not be. Anyone have any other similar observations? I just find it interesting. (edited)

Well I never dated men, but yeah I dig rock and metal. There's something about it that while it gets you juiced up it's an outlet for useless agression. Like when someone goes down in a pit as crazy as a pit can be the world stops for a second to make sure they're up and ok. Then it's right back to the chaos. Been a long time since I have been to a show, but I am sure that's still the way of it.

Punk and grunge are constantly resetting. They are part of a phase of childhood. So, their roots don't go very deep. Metal has VERY deep roots where it's hard to tell where the classic ends and the metal began. I prefer classic, myself but respect metal. Anything conceptualized post 90's I find difficult to embrace fully. That's when the faces, voices, music and lyrics all started to be copy: paste. such is my observation, anyways.

Grew up on a lot of punk rock / metal, but nusic in general, too. Generally speaking though, there is a lot of metal if not most metal that has a lot to say. A lot of it is how life truly is, escaping abusive relationships, and they're venting their emotion into their music with passion. There's a lot to connect with and a lot to learn from. It's interesting that you point this out because I've noticed this among my buddies, too. All really mellow, sweet, honest guys. It's possible that the real intense emotional lyrics help us grow more wise, and therefore smarter about how to handle emotions. 🤔 I'm just spitballing though, I'm not a psychologist or scientist or anything, Lol.
