Bands that saved you growing up

Name that one band that helped you through your depression. For me: Rise Against I cannot name another band that was more inspirational to me growing up. I was bullied at school and went through a lot of trauma because of my abusive family, and their music was everything I wanted to let out. I also just love the message behind each and every song they've written.

I discovered Rise Against in Middle School. I listened to Audience of One for the first time and cried my lungs out. Been in love with the music that they have created ever since.

Journey, Foreigner, Dokken, Winger, Scorpions, Hurricane, Judas Priest to name a few. I have been a fan of rock & metal for over 40 years. It surprises some, but these bands have great songs that have gotten me through the toughest of times.

In hs I listened to a lot of Jethro Tull because it's kind of folksy rock about fairy tale stuff and was escapist for me. HS was awful so nature and fantasy was appealing In college I liked Guilt Machine's "On This Perfect Day", it was about the creator's own battle with depression and the lines are dripping with this arresting, aggressive, chaotic, sad sort of poetic thing idk. Very mood as I was incredibly stressed out about spinning too many plates and feeling not good enough to graduate (edited)
