Nerdy vs incredibly nerdy?

Anyone else have the issue of constantly having to explain the depth of their fangirl nerdiness to people? I feel like I get a lot of messages from people who are like “Oh we have something in common I like that show/movie too. We’ll get along great!” But what they actually mean is they watched it as a kid and have a nostalgic fondness for it but have never rewatched it as an adult. Or they saw the film once and thought it was cool. Which is totally fine but that’s just not what I do. My fandoms are my hobbies. When I say I love Star Trek I mean I’ve been immersed in the fandom for decades, have most of the shows on DVD and attend every convention I can. I find this particularly true for animated shows. And it can be a challenge to make others understand. When I say I love Transformers or TMNT, it means I’ve seen all the shows and films and rewatch the ones I love often. I have just as many thoughts and opinions about the new shows as I do the ones our generation grew up with. I’m involved in the fandom online and love the art, stories, ideas and critiques fans come up with. I can discuss various aspects of the franchise for hours on end. I get that that’s not everyone’s thing, but that is what I’m hoping to find. I’m looking to befriend people in my fandoms who can match my intensity. I just feel like I get messages from people who’s main interests are sports, camping, and reality TV, but they saw Gargoyles one time as kid so they think we’d hit it off. Good for them that great but I’m really not the one for you. Nothing wrong with being a casual fan of something but that’s not my situation and I guarantee you’ll get tired of my nonsense real quick if you’re not on the same wavelength with me. I’ve been through it a million times. I know I’m one of the few that actually does read profiles and considers compatibility but it’s just a bit frustrating. So I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
