Depends on how big the age gap is. In general I like to judge people by the maturity they demonstrate and not their age, so I technically I guess I would be open to dating someone significantly younger or older than myself. However, I also think people in their late teens/early twenties are effectively still children that haven't finished growing yet, even if society does deem them to be adults in the legal sense. When you're that young, you still have a lot of intellectual development left to do, and the adult you end up becoming most likely will not be the adult you are now. This makes dating people that young a difficult proposition for me.

I think there are upper and lower limits. I have dated 15 years younger and 20 years older and I think now, I'd limit it to 10. When I was younger (now 54), I didn't think it mattered, but at 54, the idea of dating someone that is young enough to be my child gives me the ick. Equally, I find people 10+ years my senior often very set in their ways (and I think I am much more so than I was in my 20s or 30s). I'm kind of with everyone when they talk about maturity, but life experience counts too.

Yep. I've posted on this before, so I won't repeat (much), but especially these days people coming from different age groups often have different priorities and sensibilities. Try as you might, there is little you can do to bridge those gaps. The exception is if you just happen to agree on those things, but then there is still life experience that will only serve to highlight your differences.
