I think it isn't a failure rather it's more like everyone comes from different walks of life and sometimes it takes a while to find someone you want to settle down with. Having deadlines with these kinds of life "goals" are more of social constructs that you don't neccesarily need to follow religiously.

I think marrying late shows maturity and patience. You witnessed others settle or struggle and decided better for yourself. Some people get blessed at an early age but, it just means they found their person sooner! The most important thing is when you find true love you hold on to it tightly and embrace everything it has to offer🩶

What is marriage in its essence? Its subjective.
Legally - It is a set of laws and regulations for people involved. 
When you have a disagreement with your partner and neither party wants to agree with the other, what makes a successful partnership? How do you deal with that lingering disagreement and move forward together?
But in the case you fail to do that, the legal system is there to tell you what can occur in most cases. And you have rights that protect you or screw one party over dependent on the scenario.

Culturally - marriage is different to the culture. Some deem success by procreation to further lineage, you get it etc etc.

Romantically - What you would think most people want is a partner that loves you the way you want to be loved. Unfortunately we are humans and that is unique to each consciousness. 
A woman that is insecure and has trust issues wants her partner to have no female friends. Think about the dynamic that can cause so many problems, perhaps her partner had female best friends prior to ever meeting her, they dont agree to not have female friends.

So that said you define success and the age of when you get married is somewhat insignificant. I have met woman more emotionally mature and intelligent at the age of 20 then woman age 35.

When it comes to marriage, marrying the wrong person, marrying for the wrong reasons, and not working to make the marriage work are the failures. Choosing not to marry, or marrying later in life is never a failure in itself.

It's better to wait til you are fully ready and committed I've been married twice now and they were the worst times of my life. The people were not right for me I'd hold out as long as you can plus a piece of paper doesn't get to decide who you love. You don't need the paper.

Time is relative, the good things that we want to happen that God wants to give us happen when they should. We just have to have the eyes to see them when they come. So no failure isn't what should see, just have to have faith and a strong will do find/see it
