Just my preference, but I'm sure some others will relate
Look, I gotta be real with yall. Guys messaging stuff like, "omfg youre so cute hmu" is not as flattering a first message that you think it is. I personaly would much rather get, "Hey!" or "My name is (blank). I saw on your profile that we have (this) in common! You interested in talking about it?" I know dating sites don't really add a tonality of a place. At a club? Probably going to be a bit more mature out of the gate. At a park? You definately start out tame. Im a coffee place kinda gal. You saw what coffee I like, start an appropriate conversation. "Please step on my face" is not one of these starters for me. (my examples, not calling out anyone specific)
