Your memory, a persistent guest
Finds me each day, with a new unrest
It knows my whereabouts, my every place
And brings with it a familiar haunting face

We search for solace, in another's gentle hand,

We yearn for someone's love, to mend our shattered past,
To heal the hurts that we cannot, and make our hearts whole at last

What was it that led me to choose such an unusual accessory? I can’t pinpoint an exact answer, but the symbolism behind it starts to form, piece by piece, as I think through it.

I wanted to symbolize an incomplete union.

A spoonful of sweetness, after all, must be contrasted by the blunt motion of tines — representing moments when things don't need excessive embellishment or drama. It's about striking the heart of a situation, whether in decision-making, problem-solving, or communication — cutting to the point.

The spoon, though independent, works perfectly in tandem with a fork. Life serves us its offerings — sweet, salty, bitter — and we, in turn, consume the flavors that arise, all in accordance with the chemistry of the world. Or perhaps, we create those flavors ourselves.

I may not be the spoon itself, but merely a state of being — a current disposition. I am reminded that taking turns is not just acceptable, but necessary, to maintain balance.

I long for the times when I was tested by the sharp edges of bluntness and imperfection. Not out of a desire for masochism, but because I’ve learned that I can be flexible with things I cannot control. Over time, though, I’ve learned to navigate through those edges, gradually shaping them into a sharper, more resilient foundation—one that strengthens with every challenge faced.
