Oldest book ever (24th century BC): Instruction of Ptah-Hotep
This book was written almost 2000 years before Plato was born, and is currently the oldest book we've found in human history. The Pharoah asked his renowned advisor Ptah-Hotep to write down his wisdom for future generations before he died. We're lucky enough to have a complete version because it was written on clay tablets. I've been reading a translation and a lot of the wisdom seems applicable today. I thought I'd share the first piece of advice from the book. What do you think? --- Do not be proud and arrogant with your knowledge. Consult and converse with ignorant and the wise, for the limits of art are never reached. No person ever possesses that perfect knowledge to which they should aspire. Valuable speech is harder to find than emeralds, yet it is often found among maids at the grindstones. ~Ptah-Hotep
