Success

How do you measure it? I know it's more than what you do or what amount of money you make. I just want to know how you would phrase success in a nutshell. πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

"Success is as dangerous as failure. Whether you go up the ladder or down it. Your position is shaky. When you stand with both feet on the ground, you will always keep your balance." - lao tzu I don't view things as successes or failures anymore, it took a lot of work internally to even begin to think like this. Instead I just accept what is and move on. Life has has an improved quality ever since.

Thanks for reaching out and I appreciate the kind words. Seeing failures as an opportunity to grow for next time is still viewing things with the duality of failure or success, there cannot be the idea of failure without the idea of success. There isn't a single one thing that helped me get to where I am, it was an effort and willpower to want to change my perspective on life as the one I was holding onto as a result of my upbringing didn't seem to fit anymore and it was causing me distress in the form of diagnosed severe anxiety and depression. It involved lots of different learning, unlearning and practice and experience, and it's still ongoing. One piece of that puzzle that will help, is develop a will to want to see the world differently to what is taught to us. Just because everyone says something doesn't make it true nor right. It's not easy and there's a lot of darkness to push through. My starting point was curiosity and meditation was one the fundamentals to maintaing or regaining a balanced mind throughout the process.

I can feel those questions, they are good questions. I'm still learning and experiencing what the new way is for myself. Letting go of what I thought life was about e.g work, eat, sleep repeat pattern until retirement is not where I'm heading anymore, not in today's traditional belief of that pattern anyway, and it is such an engrained way of life that people use as a measure of success or failure, for a time it was lonely letting that concept go. I'm honestly not sure where this path leads, and I'm ok with that. I just take life as it comes having my newly implanted values and intuition as my guides. What I can share is the feeling of where I am while on this path, as described earlier, my quality of experiencing life has improved. Before this stage and after letting go of failure and success, I was seeing things that happen in life as lessons and just trying to learn and experience without judgements. Also the parts of my past, that I once viewed with such hatred, resentment, anger, bitterness and sadness. I no longer hold those feelings for those people and events anymore. I can truly say I'm glad everything that has happened to me, happened the way it did. Rewind a few years and I would say if I could go back in time I would change those events. Now I say I would leave them just the way they happened. A saying that has stuck with me since I heard it, and it's something I've pondered over and used as a guide when seeking answers outside myself, from many different sources. "Their words are fingers pointing to the moon, if you watch the fingers, you can’t see the moon"

Haha wasn't intended as an inspirational quote, more a caution to not look for the meaning and answers within others experiences and lessons, they can be guides sure but you will have your own meanings and experiences too and that only comes from you no one else. Took me a little while before realising that and understanding it. Life is a journey of the self. Everything is the self. All the best to you! πŸ™πŸŒŸ

I think it would depend on how one views life. Success can be as simple as meeting one's goals, no matter what they are. Success can be found for one following their dreams even if it all falls apart. Success can be found in a simple act of kindness. I don't think there is a "one size fits all" definition, each person's life is different and unique. I would say, for myself, only I can be more successful than my past self; to measure elsewhere is a foolish idea other than for inspiration.

Success is being able to make enough money for your bills and enough to put some in savings and to do all that working fewer days than you're off.

Success can be defined by others or defined by yourself. The latter being the better choice. When you truely know what you want (not what others make you think you want), you will have goals and getting closer to them is how I identify success in making.

I think of success as completing a goal. But everyone has different goals (and therefore different ideas of what success looks like).
