It’s frustrating when you do something kind and people assume there’s an ulterior motive. There really isn’t. I’m just available, and I can relate to your situation. It’s not about seeking gratitude or expecting something in return. It’s about understanding, reaching out because I remember what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, as if the world is conspiring against you. Many independent people view accepting help as a sign of weakness, but it’s not. I’m not judging or critiquing. I’m offering support because I understand what it feels like to struggle alone in a world that seems indifferent.

Some people will never understand this. They build walls, dig moats, and fill them with piranhas, creating barriers that seem impossible to breach. There’s a communication gap that I could disrupt, but I have no intention of forcing my way through. I made a pact with myself long ago, a sort of blood oath, if you will. I took a Swiss army knife, made a small cut on my hand, and vowed that my difficult experiences would not be in vain. That feeling of hopelessness and alienation, where people look down on you for stumbling in the dark alone, is something no one should have to endure. It’s this personal vow that drives me, this promise to make the world just a bit more bearable for those who find themselves adrift and unseen.

Knowing that no words, glances, or favors are expected in return for my help provides only marginal relief. It’s a pact with myself to make a difference, even if it’s a small one, even if it goes unnoticed. I understand that others might never grasp my intentions and will often reject my efforts. It’s hard not to become jaded by the process, to feel like you’re pushing against an immovable force. But it’s not personal. It’s about maintaining that flicker of hope, believing in a world where people help each other without needing a reason. It’s about being part of that change, no matter how small, and accepting that not everyone will see it the same way. You keep going because that’s the promise you made, and that’s what keeps you moving forward.

It’s a strange thing, trying to do good in a world that’s so skeptical of kindness. There’s a purity in the act that gets lost in translation. People build their defenses, convinced that any gesture must come with strings attached. But that’s not why I do it. I do it because I remember the darkness, the feeling of being on the edge of despair with no hand reaching out to pull me back. It’s about making sure that if someone else is standing on that precipice, they see a light, however faint, and know they’re not alone. It’s a quiet rebellion against the cynicism that pervades our lives, a small but steadfast stand for a better world.

Sometimes.. kindness, reliability, integrity.. and all those other seemingly good traits... yes, it sometimes can feel like doing what's right comes at a detriment to one's own being.

It's almost like that's not really what most people value. Where, instead there are those that probably are just looking to more closely associate themselves with the carefree jovial types that put more emphasis on the enjoyment in their own lives, rather than associate with those that bother to think how their actions might negatively impact others.. or impact the world. Ignoring the character flaws of their associates just for the 'fun times' that are had.

There are also those that developed an introverted nature, instinctually tending to withdraw themselves from social situations. Unwilling to develop social bonds.

And, of course there are people that care more for superficial appearance-based attributes, over the good or bad of one's character/actions.

These factors contribute to the feeling of alienation while being kind, where people distance themselves from you, or don't choose to associate with you, even though you are being kind. Experiencing this dichotomy contributes to internally trivializing the acts of being kind.. which may lead one to begin to think that kindness is a waste of time.
