Pretending to believe.
Is it ok to pretend to believe in a certain faith/religion just to make your loved ones happy and make life “easier” for everyone? I think it is wrong for anyone to push or force their beliefs on others and expect them to also believe the same thing as them, but how about when it is family that are upset that you don’t believe the same religion? Is it easier to just go along with it for the sake of a peaceful environment? Let me know any thoughts about this!

'Belief' is always personal, so all you are doing is pretending in front of other to make them either feel better or avoid conflict, it is in no way going to change your own belief. So, the question is more about how long you can pretend and decieve other person. If you are trying to make anyone happy, it is going to show up someday and what you are trying to preserve will be gone. It's just matter of time.

Absolutely not. Not only is it self-deceptive, that person would be "letting down family easy" by outright lying to them. Not exactly something you should/could do for people one allegedly cares about. It is disrespectful to them and their beliefs; at that point, it's spiritual cosplay. Peace is important, but being genuine is a higher importance. (edited)

There are different sort of religions and beliefs out in the world, and some it has culture being part of it. I don’t think deceiving or forcing yourself to be part of a religion is something you need to do just as much as you don’t need to be part of a culture to appreciate it. The question is always are there any values that you don’t agree with and want different for yourself and those around you.

I pretended to care until I eventually did care n it became my religion. Personally tho, I don't think it's wrong to pretend, the older generation can be so harsh and not willing to accept/ understand your reasoning for not believing in said religion. If you're the kind of person who always speaks up for yourself, then continue to do so. If you're not, then continue to pretend until you find your own religion. It's your life at the end of it all.
