The wires connect, but we don't see it. 🔌🧘♂️
I recently had a conversation with a friend who’s a writer and mentioned a concept I’ve been wrestling with. I can't shake the feeling that we are missing the bigger picture by sticking to our cultural lanes. The thought: “I was recently toying with the idea of writing something, even though I've never really seen myself as a writer. It's mainly just the plethora of philosophy I've read throughout my life and the connections I've made through lived experience. I feel like most people read the theory and that's it. I'm not interested in the academic history of the ideas. I'm interested in the fact that when you strip away the noise of a 9-to-5 and the mortgage, Hegel's 'Absolute Spirit' looks suspiciously like the Eastern philosophies of the Tao. I feel like most people don't see where the wires connect. Like Nietzsche’s Amor Fati and the Zen concept of Tathātā (Suchness)... or Marx’s commodity fetishism vs. Theravada Buddhist Anatta...” I probably don’t need another project, but it's something I've mulled over in my head the last couple of years. 😅 Question for the void: Does anyone else feel like the West is just rediscovering what the East figured out 2,000 years ago, just with more anxiety attached? Or am I just seeing patterns over time where there aren't any?
