🍍pizza

I always have this debate with my friends (especially as an italian): Pineapple on pizza, yes or no? And why?

Ok ok haha I have had this discussion last night. Here is my argument again lol As a second generation Italian whose grandparents brought Pizza to Boston MA I feel best equipped to answer this lol Everything in Italian cooking is based on balance. One ingredient in a recipe has a purpose in Italian cuisine. The tomato sauces acidity is balanced by by the base of the cheese and is held together by fluffy crust that provides a needed texture. Ananas is extremely acidic which combined with the tomatoes over powers the pizza and gives you an upset stomach. Nevermind when cooking it Ananas leech's out alot if liquid that breaks down that crust and ruins the texture. Conversely, if you were to replace the sauce with a white one. Use a cracker crust and, sausage as additional condiment than it would absolutely work. Just NOT on traditional neapolitan pizza (edited)

Definitely NO. The only fruits that should be on a pizza are peppers. Other types of fruit are too sweet or sour( or both!) to go on a pizza. So pineapple is a definite NO. FYI Fish and Fungi are also just wrong. If anyone reading this is offended don't worry I am not saying that YOU are wrong, just that you have terrible taste and do cruel cruel things to your pizza. Pizza abusers 😥
