Sounds like the poem was written by someone who only understands half the world, and denies the other half to make life easier for themselves. Perhaps you torture yourself with feelings because you refuse to accept the ambiguity and meaninglessness of it all.

And what good does “accepting the ambiguity and meaningless of it all” do for you? Nihilism is dumb.

I respect your perspective. Perhaps it is. That might be a weakness of mine. Still, I find the poem beautiful. As someone who has been taken for granted and have been told half truths as well, the first two lines are a great reminder for me to set boundaries for myself as I tend to self sacrifice and allow people to use me. I think that we have all faced such and we may say that we may deem this as a collective experience. But I am open to the ambuguity of life, but for some parts being meaningless?— just to share my perspective— I would view that differently. One may say that this might be a part of me being an infj, that everything that happens has a meaning and a purpose, possibly a lesson or for what may lead to a chain of events. Yet, I could be wrong. But, hey... it's poetry :)

@Aya Well, "taken for granted" could have just as easily turned into "I hate men". In your case, you took responsibility and learned a lesson, but the poem will likely inspire many more self-important people to shirk responsibility, so I do not like it. It can too easily become some toxic millenial's echo chamber.

@Skye You're so angry. Relax, it doesn't matter... am I making a good case for nihilism yet?

@Steve I believe that being taken for granted can come from both sex or all genders regardless of the nature of relationship. However, I cannot deny that I see your point from your statement. But, I would like to know what part of it makes you think so or how have you come up with your narrative. Can you kindly elaborate?
