Pop socialism

In Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon one is painted a pretty clear picture of the bowels of the Soviet State. We are shown how humans were digested by the organs of the State. We see the monster Socialism can grow into when objective reality is simply ignored. The revolution continues to spin and pull the society further and further left. The same thing happened w the islamo fascists in countries like Iran but they spin to the right. The junta vs the cadre if you will. Arthur shows us the behemoth the State becomes when it's paired w strong ideologies around race, culture and even sexuality. Sound familiar? Many forget, the Soviets out paced even the Nazis in sheer cold blooded murder. Those grounded in reality are a danger for the ever shifting narrative in a republic of fear and they must be destroyed utterly. To disagree is to be counter revolutionary, it is to sin essentially. Deep within the red machine, freedom of thought is criminalized and humans become the expendable capital. Darkness at noon really covers this in depth. In 2022 the specter of authoritarian socialism has slipped from common memory and thus the proles look to it once again to save them. Sadly, The best parts of socialism have been gutted by the intersectionalists and the new left. Class solidarity is a thing of the past, a bad joke really. In its place new bourgeois ideas about sex, gender and race sit uneasily between the various factions. All this is designed to atomize the working class rather than organize it around matters of the purse and labor as done in the past. Is a blue collar oil worker going to understand phrases like, cis hetero normative, or western hegemony? Of course not. That language is designed to alienate him. Will the hispanic single mother of three have time to read about she's white adjacent and has problematic views on race? No... she has to work 2-3 jobs. The revolution spins on casting those in the center to the margins. If we were to go full on socialist in the states it would not be some Nordic utopia like ppl think. It would likely be something closer to what the Chinese have now. A tech dystopic hell where your every word is recorded. All dissent smashed. A place where religion is illegal and those who indulge punished horribly. This is essential to authoritarian socialism because it rubs against the grain of the natural order. One of the key objectives in communism for instance, is dominion over nature. Human nature, mother nature, nature are the enemy of the apparatchik. Some want a socialist revolution, burn it down, they say. I hope those ppl read more than socialist memes made by unemployed college graduates. These types are the most privileged. They sip their cold brew coffee while hammering and sickling away at their apple lap top many of us could never afford. They post snarky memes that agitate ppl, get them fighting. They have secret dreams of crisp uniforms, overly shiny boots and dadaist posters w men and women looking to the dear leader. They see themselves behind a big desk because in their mind, their political science degree makes them important and in the new. Of course, the new regime will have a place for them. In truth, all revolutionaries get purged. In Robert Conquest's the Great Terror, he documents the farcical Soviet show trials. First, the old guard is purged, those that spearheaded revolution. Next the second wave, then the third. The revolution, out of fear and insecurity, devours its own tail. It must to keep up the lie, to keep grinding against nature. We see it in leftist politics today. Look at the TERF/3rd wave feminist beef, perfect example. Who benefits from that strife? Not women or trans ppl. Don't let them make you believe you have less in common w your neighbors than you really do. Don't fall into the pop socialism trap. Yes, everyone is doing it but it isn't cool. Read some history books. See what these ideologies do to people, to nations. Read marx, read Trotsky, read Luxembourge, but also read those who survived communism. Read the human stories. Lastly, just be good to each other.
