I think an interesting consequence of the internet is that with greater access to information, people are less likely to be informed. I see this a lot with political memes, people use them as a crutch so they don't have to form an opinion. They just parrot whatever feels right by sharing images. It is a weird and lazy form of forfeiting your ability to think for yourself.

As opposed to having one trusted source of "official" propaganda? Reality is: 1) we can't expect any source of information to be 100% unbiased and trustworthy, and to provide us with only the unfiltered truth. So we need several sources, and to use our better judgment and critical thinking to form our own opinion in what's "true". 2) Most people don't want to do that work and will resort to being sheeple anyway Milgram experiment alone tells you all you need to know about how easily people give away their agency and are only too happy to let some "authority" think for them. The context is different, but the underlying truth remains: the majority of the people will blindly follow the authority/ "expert". When you multiply the sources of information available and people are confronted to an overwhelming mass of conflicting information, the majority will simply pick one "truth" from whatever trusted authority/expert they "chose" to follow, and they'll parrot it blindly and without question. I prefer to focus on the minority of people who don't want to give away their agency and ability to think for themselves. And for those people, I prefer a system where the information is free and varied,. because 1)

Personally, i just do it to mine the heaps of salt. And brother, the mining is GOOD. I would enjoy normal discourse but in a battle of wits the left always shows up unarmed :( As for memes, they are often funny and relay a message quickly and to the point. The left cant meme because the first part is supposed to be funny and most if not all lack a sense of humor.

The newer generation or those who is using it , I imagine prefer it as an abbreviation version of communication. I use it mainly for humor. Although I agree with you, I can also see how trend like or addicting it is using this. It'll only increase or evolve overtime. I think, in this case it helps reveal/show those who is willing to think plus practice typing out thoughts, questions and opinions from those that just prefer using memes instead of taking time to voice what's on their mind.
