Why I Am Pro-Choice.

Being pro-choice is believe it or not: pro-harm-mitigation. Substantial cognitive functions don't even develop until the point where abortions are not legally allowed to begin with, meanwhile in terms of survival the fetus is effectively a parasite to the mother as it feeds from the mother and relies on the mother to regulate many of the functions that an actual baby would have vital organs to perform. In the end, a fetus is no more a human being than an apple seed is an apple tree, and it's important to understand the facts that allow you to see it that way as pregnancy is extremely dangerous to the mother, if the mother dies, so too will the fetus and so the life of the mother must take priority, there is no logical reason for otherwise. Examining how the system treats a new life, it's apparent that "pro-life" stops at birth, actions clearly speak louder than words there, it's not actually about pro-life, it's actually about a narcissistic sort of reproductive entitlement validation quite well summed up as "Your body, my choice". Examining the supposed religious influences of the pro-life movement, even that is faulty as the Bible is if anything pro-abortion, and when it comes to the choice of the woman, straight up anti-choice with a biblically prescribed option for use of a toxic brew that can cause an abortion to occur. The "Thou shalt not kill" argument is also faulty as even the Jesuses of the Bible killed or instructed others to kill for food, the actual translation is "Thou shalt not commit murder" and the distinction is that murder is the unlawful killing of another human being. The Bible doesn't even regard a fetus as a human being, if you kill a man you get a death penalty, if you cause a woman to suffer a miscarriage you just owe a fine. Sure you can argue "Just the laws of the time" but the Biblical god saying things like "You shall eat the fruit of the womb" and "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks" being something that people believed said god to see no problem in really speaks contrary to a disturbingly radical extent. In short yes, I definitely believe the reality behind the "Pro-life" movement is best summed up as narcissistic reproductive entitlement as the other explanations for the motive simply don't hold up to scrutiny.
