People who know me well know that I am extremely logical and pragmatic. I actually do change my opinions based on concrete and verifiable evidence. Being wrong isn’t emotional to me, so I regularly clash with people who are emotionally attached to some of their opinions. To me, it’s no big deal to be wrong about something. Pretty normal when you just haven’t heard some news yet. So I also don’t get angry at people who are wrong because well, they just didn’t know and now they do. 🤷 There’s a lot of stuff I just cannot follow. Fashion is totally irrelevant to me. Social trends are just silly games. I’m not a group-oriented person and people who move to the beat of their own drum are generally considered annoying in polite society. But the zombie thing has undeniably made its mark in my brain. 😂 Do I understand it’s fiction? Of course. But it scratches some pragmatic itch of mine - telling enemies from allies, when to ditch a member of the group, where cooperation matters and where its more dangerous for the individual. Zombies are zombies. They cannot be reasoned with. There is simply no reality in which we can coexist with them. And I feel that applies to people who think climate change is a hoax. They are mindless consumers who make life impossible for everyone, including themselves. I guess it’s sort of comforting as a person who is frequently frustrated by how irrational and illogical the world is. If everyone had to deal with zombies, they would sort of get a taste of what everyday feels like for me. And I know I would be able to survive a zombie apocalypse because I’m already living in one now. The only real difference is that I would be spending more time outside during a zombie apocalypse and… I’m ok with that 😂 I just thought it was funny as anti-obsession and staunchly rational as I usually am being very clearly obsessed with zombie fiction and the various origin theories of a hypothetical zombie apocalypse. 😂

Haha I get it, I feel the same way about being wrong. If you're never wrong you're never learning! And I also have a weird fascination with (more generally) apocalypse type stuff. I really want to read the 100 books because the series was good but they barely finished the first book and already had several world ending apocalypses and then maybe space aliens? But I do love some walking dead, resident evil, Shaun of the dead. There was even a Korean series I started watching that seemed pretty good but you know, life happens lol.

A very curious perspective to liken the insensible masses to zombies, but hell you’re not wrong. Points for using a zombie apocalypse as a social critique. That aside, I also like zombie genre media. I get annoyed whenever the characters do the dumb things that kick off the worst of the effects of the apocalypse like not taking care of a zombie because they used to be a loved one. Maybe too pragmatic or heartless of me, but if I see Gran Gran’s corpse shambling after me it catching smoke. Don’t give a damn. I’m also super picky on what I’ll say is a good zombie theory for the lore. Simple neural degeneration coupled with viri, prion or parasite doesn’t explain the litany of issues that go into it such as propagation. [Insert remainder of hellaciously long info dump here]. Lol seriously I could go for days

The movie "Dawn of the dead" by RIP mister Romero was specifically a society direct criticize (most of his movies, if not all, were somewhat some kind of criticism). Now I understand the analogy. Zombi stopped evolving, stopped living, and aim only at something very specific. DotD also has a precise quote : "they are us, and we are them" (or something like that). Because the Romero zombies are actually stuck into some reminiscing parts of their past life before they turned into zombies. Some can use tools, some are doing shopping, and some are still able to think or to talk (like "bu" from Day of the Dead, or the zombi boss from The last one). Anyway, if some zombi apocalypse were to happen, by the way "undead zombies", that would not be a major problem. Because everything of the body function "because" and "only because" we have both heartbeat which involve blood circulation, and an efficient nervous system which also depend on the heartbeat and circulation. Interdépendances...
