Children and LGBTQIA+

A 9 year old told me that his parents don't let him listen to Lil Nas X because, Lil Nas X isn't straight. I understand that everyone has different approaches to parenting (due to their upbringing, religion, etc) and that parents tend to censor certain entertainment due to inappropriate content. However, I believe that telling your child that they can't listen to certain music for the simple fact that an artist is gay isn't right. I feel like that is setting the tone for your child to think that being different is wrong. What are your thoughts? How do you feel a situation like this should be approached? (edited)
