Is pain the currency of the soul?
I feel like every time in my life that I've grown a lot for myself or gained some new profound perspective it was because I had been going through much pain. Unfortunately my life has been a rather in pained one. However no amount of pain, struggle, torment or hardship has been able to break any part of who I am. For that strength I am grateful. Doesn't mean that I didn't feel every bit of pain that was in my life. So is all the pain absolutely necessary for soul growth?

Yes definitely. Pain is a challenge, and therefore a method of growth. Without challenge, we are stuck in the phase of life and can't develop. Pain also warns us to avoid what is not productive in our lives, and gives contrast to happiness. Like you say, pain in any capacity shows your strength and enables you to self-love. Remember from the moment of birth, both mother and baby feel pain, so it is a natural and necessary part of life.

Sure, in a way why not see it like that. Further more you can say emotions, in general are currency for the soul. I dont believe in many things, but something that proves itself true time and time again is that light cannot exist without dark, and any contrast along side it. To compare, is to insinuate the existence of the difference. Pain is one of these feelings we internalize that when used correctly can act as fuel for transformation, not much different from how someone might view a Magic spell. The trick is the conviction. You must believe that the pain can benefit you and will it to existence. Being grateful is something I think I hope everyone can say about their pain, but it never means that we never felt any of it. Humans are fickle creatures, and the brain is more-so. We can only do our best with the cards that have been dealt, and it seems you are on a right track. Keep your head up. Edit: im stoned thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

I believe existence is made of pain and joy. We notice and remember what we are conditioned to, but self-work can change that conditioning. It sounds like you're balanced at the cusp, still feeling the pain intensely but seeing the joy of growth attached to it. That can be a very healthy place to be.

I wouldn’t say it’s an absolute necessary for EVERYTHING we go through or everytime we grow, but big suffering does have such an impact on us that it brings changes to us. Once impacted, we are not the same as we once were.

No. Pain can only be a motivator, if you choose so, to seek for a reward, but it doesn't do nothing on its own. It's actually pleaure, and its pursuit, that signal and allow change.

Pain is part of life's experiences. It is definitely linked to growing. Growth is an extension of self and forced you to deal with experiences outside of your comfort zone. Which is a good thing. Physical pain is a different story. It can be a beacon or sense of danger. It can also be a signal to alert oneself of the need for attention or care.

no. pain tends to repel the average animal from its source, but then there are those that challenge pain; there are some that even seem to enjoy pain. i can only take the prospect of intelligent design so seriously, but i believe intelligent beings take the spaghetti on the wall, imagine a purpose for it, and use it that way. instinctually breed to make more of those noodles, specifically. but evolution itself, is just the spaghetti. spaghetti being thrown at a wall, and seeing what sticks. it was not made with purpose or necessity. this is especially obvious when one goes through pain, struggle, torment, or hardship that serves no purpose. that teaches nothing. offers no new, profound perspectives. it is insufferable, but to no end. pain can be used to nourish the soul, like we managed to turn a deadly toxin into an energy source for our cells, but it wasn't necessary or meant to be that way.
