“Friends only”

Men, what does it mean to you when someone has only “friends” as the option they set on their profile?? Do you just ignore it and shoot your shot, or respect it? ^^ In my experience, many people have just ignored it completely 🧍🏻‍♀️I wonder what’s the thought process that goes behind that.

If I were single my approach would be that regardless of what a person is looking for I start with trying to be friends. I have no interest in dating someone I can't be friends with. From there the chemistry will tell me if I should be dropping hints. If a person isn't reciprocating then I know where I stand. But if I have nothing in common with that person and can't be friends with them, then I have no reason to build a relationship with them. I find it absurd that there are men/women that just assume they can flirt with you and get confused when you remind them that this is just friendship.

I won't speak for everyone but in my case it means someone only wants friends and they also don't like having to reject people. I don't like the idea of leading someone on. Some people seem to think it means change my mind. As long as the are polite about it that's fine.
