Do you hate yourself?

Used to, way back when I used to be surrounded with people deemed 'way better than me' and 'out of my league.' Your solutions are mine as well! Comparisons can choke you like no other.

I don't think anyone truly hates themselves. I think people, for example injure themselves intentionally out of repressed pain that would inflict more trauma on them in the long run if faced at the time. Same with drugs and alcohol. You're avoiding a problem to save it for later, if you ever face it. It's like facing your death. I think everyone loves themselves because that's the only one you'll ever have. I think this knowledge is integrated into us. Even if you don't think it

I go back and forth on this a lot. My self image can never truly live up to the expectations I set for myself, and that causes me to occasionally take a hit to my confidence and self esteem. I've learned how to manage it, and break the bad habits that led to this. It'll never truly be a non-issue for me, as it's tied into my mental health issues but for the most part I can manage it much better than I used to be able to and it's allowed me to be a much more positive person in general which to this day still shocks me sometimes. I.e I can have a day I'm feeling pretty bad with my mental health and still have a really positive outlook on my day and that's something I've never been able to do before. My depression always filters life through a cracked lense so positivity in any regard was never a strength for me until now, and it's one of the most refreshing feelings to be able to remain optimistic in the face of my mental health struggles everyday.
